Age UK is the country’s leading charity for older people at all stages in their later life – including older people who are still in work.
We are delighted to be supporting National Older Workers Week 2023, championing the rights of older workers and promoting the Age Inclusive Workplace.
Age UK recognises that the workforce in the UK is changing fast – by 2025, one in three of the working age population will be 50 or over . The fact that people are living and therefore working longer should be celebrated, but many older workers in the UK feel left behind and overlooked. Age UK is clear that all older people who want or need to work, must have the equitable opportunity to do so.
Our national Advice Line is open every day of the year so when older workers need us, we’re just a phone call away. Our expert Advisors can provide practical help and advice on a wide range of topics relating to employment in later life, such as: income & tax, legal issues, finding work, benefit entitlement checks, managing debt and savings, setting up pensions, and how to access health services; including signposting to other organisations who can support with conditions and illnesses’.
We’re also here to help older workers to support their loved ones. Frequently referred to as the ‘sandwich generation’, older workers may be juggling caring for ageing members of their families alongside their career too. Age UK can help with finding and arranging social care for example, so older workers with caring responsibilities feel supported and are able to continue working.
