Ocado Group

When Ocado Group’s journey started, we were all about changing the way people shop for groceries. 20 years later, we’re developing our own ground breaking technology, opening multiple sites at an accelerating rate and engaging in exciting new business partnerships around the world!

Our company

As a division of Ocado Group, Ocado Logistics is the largest business area with 15,000 people employed in the UK. We are immensely proud to supply the nation’s favourite foods via our partners Ocado Retail and Morrisons, and we are committed to building a workforce that reflects the customers and communities that we serve. We’re all in it together – not afraid to roll up our sleeves (robots included) and get stuck in.

We deliver best in class customer service as thousands of orders leave our state-of-the-art Customer Fulfilment Centres every day. With 27 sites across the UK, a career at Ocado Logistics can lead to bags of possibilities.

Our Culture

Our people are incredibly diverse, and come from all walks of life with different stories and experiences. They are at the heart of everything we do, and we work hard to make sure everyone feels safe, supported, included, and that their voices are heard. We’re building a workplace that works for everyone – where they can be their true selves, reach their potential, and feel inspired to climb to new heights.

One size doesn’t fit all

We understand that for many people, flexibility is the key to achieving work life balance, and that’s why we’ve created flexible shift patterns.

For those who are hourly-paid, our flexible shift patterns are:

  • Core: our standard roster providing mixed shifts in line with a standard cycle (usually 13-weekly)
  • Fix: you work fixed full-time shifts
  • Anchor: you work fixed part-time shifts
  • Trade: receive your roster one week in advance for a £25 per week premium; includes overtime allocation
  • Boost: a zero-hours working arrangement designed to fit around your life
  • Extra: overtime shifts for people on Core, Fix and Trade

We deliver best in class customer service, so our shifts are designed to cover all days and hours of the week. We do our best to accommodate requests for preferred shifts but this is not always possible.

In support functions, such as People, Planning and Payroll we support a hybrid working model where this fits the role, and we value autonomy, so you manage your own schedule. Many of our teams spend 40 percent of their time connecting with colleagues in our offices and you might also be able to choose to ‘work from anywhere’ for a month.

Reward and Recognition

At Ocado Logistics we offer competitive salaries, however you get so much more than a wage – Whether you are at the beginning of your career or in the twilight years, we have perks and benefits for everyone. Some of our most popular benefits are:

  • Access for you and your immediate family to unlimited video consultations with a GP, who can offer medical advice, send you prescriptions and refer you to a specialist
  • Offer of a yearly health assessment through a pin-prick blood test and access for you and your immediate family to experienced GPs, mental health counsellors and nutritionists, as well as expert UK second medical opinion

Case Studies

Cheryl Chapman, Training Coordinator

Patrick Carrick, Delivery Driver/Training Assistant

I’m a Delivery Driver and Training Assistant at our warehouse in Bristol. Before Ocado, I worked for an engineering company, and now I’ve been here for about seven and a half years. I started as a Delivery Driver and after six months an opportunity came up to help train new starters, which was something I was interested in. So I decided to go for it and for the last seven years I have also been a Training Assistant. I love doing this role alongside being a Delivery Driver. In fact, it is probably my favourite thing about working for Ocado, getting to see the people I have trained progress and being promoted.

My current shift pattern is 07:00-15:00, which works for me and actually allows me to have a good work-life balance. Outside of work, I enjoy sports and I love to use my holiday to go travelling.

Belinda David, Demand Planner

I work in our Head Office in Hatfield, Hertfordshire as a Demand Planner and I’ve been in this role since starting at Ocado ten years ago. Before this, I worked as a Business Manager/Sales Broker, which was very demanding. So, I decided to change my career because I wanted to find a role I could do within standard office hours and Ocado seemed like a good fit. I find that as I have gotten a bit older, I value my work-life balance a lot more. In my spare time, I like to spend quality time with my friends and family and I enjoy taking time off to go on holiday.

Alongside my job as a Demand Planner, I also had the opportunity at Ocado to represent my department as a Listening Champion, acting as a voice to senior management. I absolutely loved doing this role and it is definitely one of the highlights of my career. I feel extremely lucky that the managers at Ocado encouraged and supported me whilst in this position and I really appreciate that I had time at work to help other people.
