Job overview

Experienced Podiatrist needed for high risk/ wound care in the borough of Bromley, to lead a team and manage clinic based and domiciliary wound-based caseload. 

Community foot protection team linked with King's college hospital diabetic foot service for shared care of patients. The Podiatry team are a dynamic,  friendly team seeking a motivated new member of staff to complete the team. Prospective candidate must have wound care experience, be motivated, flexible,  communicative and able to work as part of a team.

We are currently looking for an Advanced Band 7 Podiatrist.

This is an opportunity to join a committed, progressive team who work in a challenging and motivating environment, the successful candidates will have a community focused clinical caseload with a responsibility to provide foot health care and advice to patients with “at risk” feet.

 

Main duties of the job

We are looking for HCPC Registered Podiatrists with post graduate experience with a high degree of motivation and clinical skills, you will need a flexible approach to service provision with the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually. The successful candidate will be required to have excellent diagnostic and clinical skills to deliver a range of podiatry treatments including wound care, at risk and biomechanical interventions for patients in Bromley.

Although based in a clinical setting, the role is across the Bromley Healthcare area with a home visit case load. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.

The post holder will be up to date with current best practice and demonstrate Bromley Healthcare values in their day to day role working as part of a team. We value health promotion through patient empowerment and education, therefore we require podiatrists who have excellent communication and assessment skills.
We encourage team members to take part in various CPD activities including clinical supervision, in-house training during department meetings in addition to external training sessions.

Registration with the Health professions council is essential.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. To be professional and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work including the management of patients within your own care in accordance with the HPC standards of proficiency, conduct, performance and ethics.
2. To provide highly specialised assessment and treatments for patients including those related to the high risk pathway you manage (e.g. Diabetes & Wound Care, MSK orMinor Surgery)
3. To act as a source of expert knowledge in Diabetes foot problems.
4. To manage complex cases using advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and an analysis to support assessments, diagnosis and treatment planning, in both primary and secondary care settings.
5. To have responsibility for developing and introducing protocols and procedures for the practice of wound care, treatment of people with diabetes or treatment in minor surgery.
6. To support the planning of CPD within the department
7. To continually evaluate own clinical practice, based on valid research, evidence and audit including national and local clinical guidelines.
8. To provide autonomous care of very high risk patients in the management of diabetic foot care managing and prioritising own workload.
9. To use valid and reliable outcome measures to evaluate the effect of therapy interventions and ensure that treatment programs are progressing appropriately
