About the role:

Now more than ever people living with cancer are contacting our support line for benefits support and advice, so to meet this need we are expanding our wonderful team.

You'll work within our Money and Work Team, offering comprehensive benefits advice on our busy helpline receiving up to 1000 calls per week to the service, as well as by email and webchat. In addition to offering benefits advice, you will support customers to access debt, energy, housing, and employment rights services. You will identify and process Macmillan Grant applications, along with supporting people affected by cancer with more complex welfare rights cases.

About you:

We are looking for experienced Welfare Rights Advisers who can demonstrate highly developed listening, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to handle emotional and complex situations in a way which always balances empathy with professionalism. Alongside having excellent technical knowledge, you will have a flexible approach to work. This will support our service as it makes exciting changes to enable us to meet the needs of more people affected by cancer.

Working hours
You will work an average of 34.5 hours per week on a shift system basis. The service operates 365 days per year and hours will be worked between 08:00-20:15, Monday - Sunday.

The application deadline is Thursday 6th January at midnight. If you are shortlisted, then you will be asked to complete a benefit knowledge test w/c 10th January. If you meet the knowledge requirements you will be invited to a virtual group assessment centre w/c 17th January via MS Teams.

Successful candidates will then be invited to a virtual interview via MS Teams w/c 31st January. The expected start date for this role is 7th March 2022. Any offers on this role are made subject to a criminal records disclosure check or equivalent.
