Job description
The End User Computing engineer role is essential to supporting your colleagues across the department with a focus on mobile devices and tablets. You will play a key part in ensuring the correct policies and procedures are in place to keep DFT smartphones and tablets up to date and you will ensure compliance through the monitoring of the devices and estate.
We are one team spanning many different skill sets and specialisms within IT, we work with a joined up approach so being able to communicate across different platforms, business areas and with colleagues with varying levels of understanding will be essential to this role.
Responsibilities
Includes but not limited to;
• Creating policies/profiles via Microsoft Endpoint Manager (formerly Intune), and/or other MDM systems. Tests MDM policies on mobile devices such as smart phones, tablets, and laptops
• Help design and oversee the mobile device lifecycle processes, from provisioning to retirement
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of Apple Business Manager and Samsung Knox to ensure synchronisation with the organisation’s MDM system - Microsoft Endpoint Manager (formerly Intune). Liaising with suppliers and the DfT IT Service Management team to ensure suppliers are registering DfT devices effectively
• Creating, editing and testing Azure Active Directory groups and accounts to facilitate profile management
• Packaging, testing and deploying Apps across the DfT, iOS and Android estate
• Helping define, and then implementing, operating system updates across the mobile device estate. Informing and defining the DfT policy
About You
To be successful in this role you will be a team player, capable of working with others to identify areas for improvement and simplify processes to use fewer resources. You will have a solid understanding in using technology where possible to increase efficiency. As a business we constantly look to grow and develop, we encourage you to come up with ideas for change from a wide range of sources. You will be able to communicate clearly with your colleagues, explaining the reasons for change to and how to implement them, supporting individuals with different needs to adapt to change. Experience with Microsoft packages is essential. We would also be interested to speak to people with experience in working with cloud-based platforms.
