Overview
 

Working within VOD Operations, this role provides project leadership and management, launches services and contributes industry expertise in support of the company’s accelerating and scaling direct to consumer business.

This role, sitting within Global Technology & Operations (GT&O) is responsible for delivering strategically and operationally important projects from inception to handover to the business. The VOD Operations Project Manager will deliver a number of related projects across the full project lifecycle with multiple and varied project stakeholders in different teams.

 

The VOD Operations Project Manager is a key focal point for non-linear projects, bringing leadership and organisation to ad hoc project teams, expertise around non-linear solutions and oversight to ensure the successful outcome of projects, on time and on budget.

 

This role is a 12 month Fixed Term contract, initially. 


Responsibilities
 

  • Responsible for full Project Management life cycle of complex and diverse multi-regional projects
  • Working with the businesses to identify, mobilise and deliver projects, and to provide clear project status to sponsors and stakeholders
  • Lead the business requirements definition for projects ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are engaged and requirements are defined to meet the agreed minimum standard.
  • Manage the definition of project scope, budget, timelines and acceptance criteria, and ensure relevant sign off
  • Manage project resources, the majority of which will not report directly to you, but will be based in other parts of the business
  • Create and execute Project Plans using effective tools to avoid deviation from agreed timelines 
  • Develop, validate and manage all relevant project support processes and documentation throughout the life of projects (e.g. business cases, plans, status reports, etc.)
  • Build and own strong stakeholder relationships (internally and externally)
  • Actively identify and facilitate resolution when required for any project risks, issues and dependencies within projects
  • Provide status reporting to senior levels within the company (VP / SVP / EVP)
  • Control changes in Scope through a formal Change Control process
  • Develop technical and operational solutions in collaboration with the appropriate SMEs
  • Ensure a smooth and well-planned transition to the relevant areas of the business when the projects are complete and conduct the Post Project Review


Qualifications
 

 

  • A track record of finding solutions to complex media workflows, across a range of delivery technologies and platforms.
  • Ability to successfully negotiate deadlines and priorities with technical and business stakeholders
  • Strong consultancy skills and a track record working at all levels of an organisation
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Demonstrate an organised and procedural approach to their workload and tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in leading business change

Desirable:

  • Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince2, PMI or equivalent)
  • Proven history of successfully delivering multi-national, multi-platform broadcast projects
  • Been exposed to both non-linear content distribution and traditional broadcast content delivery workflows and distribution methodologies.
  • Ability to switch between Agile and Waterfall projects desirable
