Job description

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We aim to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its own transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns to their needs.

We are looking for Senior Delivery Managers to operate within our Southampton based MCA team. You will be accountable for the delivery of products and services.

This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to lead a key function within IT at the MCA, helping to shape and create an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public.
 

Responsibilities

Your duties will include but are not limited to:
• On behalf of the Head of Delivery Management manage the design and implement the digital, data and technology delivery management strategy, policies and processes required for successful delivery of the technology portfolio
• Manage the IT digital, data and technology portfolio including effective prioritisation of incoming requirements
• Manage the delivery of MCA's digital, data and technology projects and initiatives, including applications and infrastructure, with a focus on large and medium-size projects, according to the project allocation priorities set by the Head of Delivery Management
• Manage and support the relationships with digital, data and technology project sponsors and key stakeholders of the projects they manage, understanding their priorities and demands
• Ensure that the projects and initiatives they manage achieve agreed objectives within time, cost and quality constraints

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.

Its responsibilities include coordinating search and rescue (SAR) on the coastline and at sea through His Majesty's Coastguard (HMCG), ensuring that ships meet international and UK safety standards, monitoring and preventing coastal water pollution and testing and issuing Merchant Navy Certificates of Competency (licences) for ships' officers and crew to STCW requirements The organisation is led by Virginia McVea its Chief Executive, who took up post in February 2023.The MCA are chiefly responsible for the syllabus and national training standards issued by the Merchant Navy Training Board (based at the UK Chamber of Shipping).
