Job description

It’s an exciting time to be part of the MCA, we have a fantastic project that we are currently working on with our Future of Shared Services team and have an opportunity for a forward-thinking HR Project Professional to join us on a fixed term assignment for two years. Working with the senior leadership team you will co-ordinate the HR system and service requirements for Shared Services, ensuring that MCA’s business and operational needs are met, and governance controls are in place. You will work in partnership with key stakeholders and suppliers ensuring the HR system is delivered to the required standard and that acceptable service and key performance standards are developed.
 

Responsibilities

Your duties include but are not limited to:
• Be the project lead on the successful implementation of HR Information System(s) in the MCA.
• Be the lead HR Subject Matter Expert for the Future of Shared Services Programme (FoSS) including but not limited to areas such as Payroll, Volunteer management, training and expenses, Time and Absence Management and Business Intelligence.
• Direct the changes to and implementation of new organisational processes. Work with your team and wider HR to ensure all HR processes are LEAN and effective.
• Lead on engagement and ensure buy-in of proposed solutions with key MCA HR and other MCA and DFT stakeholders.
• Work with Internal and External Stakeholders to ensure the design for MCA's Shared Services provision meets the current and future MCA requirements
• Represent MCA HR at Internal and External Programme Meetings
• Engage with Stakeholders to ensure that MCA employees and volunteers have appropriate visibility and engagement.
• Lead the design and development of the FOSS Data Migration, Testing and Delivery Plans, working with the MCA FoSS Programme Team, supporting project planning and progress reporting.
• Become a recognised expert in the future systems that will be utilised by MCA within the Shared Services arena, and support others in developing such expertise in the systems to facilitate effective transition from programme to business as usual.
• Be responsible for the Continuous management of stakeholder relationships
• Work closely with the existing shared services management team and maintain a constant awareness of current shared services provision and changes.

About you:

You will come to us with a solid background in HR and experience of change management. Having worked on HR projects before you have a great understanding of how to engage with stakeholders and ascertain their needs. Your excellent communication skills mean you confidently translate technical language to non-technical people, ensuring they have a full understanding of the topic. You are looking for a role where you can hit the ground running, one where you can showcase your expertise and skillset whilst making a difference.

Memberships

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development or equivalent HR experience

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
