Our team is growing! It’s an exciting time to join the Maritime and Coastguard agency, in particular our Maritime Future Technologies team – we are currently recruiting for a Maritime Regulatory Approach Engineering Lead, responsible for leading the future of Regulation within the Maritime sector working alongside both Emission Reduction and Autonomy team. You will lead the future of regulation and support both Emission Reduction and Autonomy on the change and adaption of safe regulations related to the introduction of autonomy in the maritime sector and Emissions Reductions and alternative fuels in the global shipping industry
 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead the Future of Regulation team within the Maritime Future Technologies (MFT) area to develop, deliver and maintain an effective framework for the regulation of novel technologies (e.g. technologies which enable emission reduction and autonomy) covering short, medium and long-term needs.
• Lead and govern the regulatory approach discussions both internally and externally, creating and maintaining strong links with industry, academia and other regulators.
• Responsible for identifying and implementing competence requirements for the Future of Regulation, Emission Reduction and Autonomy teams.
• Lead relationship and work with the Autonomy and Emission Reduction technical teams
• Lead the process for capturing, storing and disseminating lessons identified during the development of the regulatory framework and from individual projects.
• Act as line manager for Future of Regulation team member

About you:

You are an enthusiastic and experienced engineer with a core discipline in naval architecture, marine engineering or equivalent technical specialism. You are looking for a role where you can use your strategic mindset and flair for project management to drive forward and support implementation of cutting-edge innovation. Using your exceptional communication skills, you liaise comfortably with a variety of stakeholders translating technical language for non-technical people in a respectful manner; you are known for building trusting, lasting relationships allowing you to influence decision making.

Qualifications

Core discipline in naval architecture, marine engineering or equivalent technical specialism with proven experience of working with emerging technologies.

• Demonstrate background and experience of being an established engineer in a Maritime or non Maritime background that would best demonstrate you capability for the role

• Strategy planning and driving a bigger picture mindset within a team on a portfolio of technical projects

It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
