What you'll do:

  • Design, create and deliver infrastructure, code or services to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of our internal or customer-facing services
  • Driving technical excellence in everything we do and fostering a culture around data driven reliability, monitoring and automation following SRE principles
  • Be part of a team that contributes to and leads new designs, architectures and standards for large-scale distributed systems spanning multiple territories and regions
  • Enhancing and supporting a build framework for continuous deployment and platform automation
  • Working alongside development teams to develop and design scalable and high available services and establish effective ways of working
  • Work within the larger reliability department to ensure consistent design and reliability standards across the group
  • Engage in troubleshooting, service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning
  • Communicate work status regularly with a clear articulation of design choices along the way

What you'll bring:

  • Configuration management - experience with two or more of Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef etc
  • CI/CD - build pipelines in one or more of Jenkins, Concourse, GoCD, gitlab-ci, TeamCity, Octopus etc
  • Cloud Platforms - designing infrastructure, deployment patterns and automation within at least one of e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure etc
  • Databases - expert in at least one of Oracle, MySql/Galera or Couchbase including HA, Clustering, Optimisation etc
  • Messaging - experience in Kafka, ActiveMQ etc.
  • Networking - in-depth knowledge of routing & switching as well as e.g. Firewall, Security
  • Storage Mgmt - provisioning, LVM, Raid-levels, NFS, Object-Storage, Block-Storage etc
  • Virtualisation - VMWare, Openstack, Xen etc
  • Containerisation / Orchestration - docker, containerd, Kubernetes
  • Monitoring - design and implementation of monitoring solutions, metric driven alerting, e.g. Prometheus, Grafana etc
  • Logging systems - deployment of Splunk, ELK etc
  • Scripting - one or more of Python, Bash, Powershell, Java
  • Security - knowledge of a number of practices, e.g. SSH/ SSL/ TLS/ HMac /IPS/ IDS
  • Networking - knowledge of routing and protocols, including network design best practices including security
  • Content Delivery Networks and Global Traffic Management/Load balancing - e.g. Akamai, Cloudflare, etc
  • Linux & Windows System administration - capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning
  • Microservice architecture / immutable infrastructure / Infrastructure as Code

Osterley:
