We are seeking a motivated individual who can lead on engagement with PFI stakeholders for our team. Job description

The Corporate Finance Advisory team is a small, highly skilled and widely respected team of Corporate Finance professionals which advise on the most significant projects, programmes and policy initiatives across the Department and its arm’s length bodies such as Network Rail and Highways England. Our team is the trusted voice on investment and financing (e.g. on private financing structures) and has taken a pivotal role in influencing the commercial content of ground-breaking policy and delivering many of the Department’s largest projects in recent years

This is a varied and exciting role that would see the successful candidate delivering commercial advice within the Department for Transport (DfT), to project teams for some of the Department’s high-profile projects and to our policy teams. There will be a particular focus on the operation of the Department’s large Portfolio of infrastructure (PFI) projects.
 

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to

- Leading on stakeholder management for the Department’s PFI Portfolio and provide support to the PFI Portfolio Manager in managing the Department’s 56 operational PFI transport projects

- Within this portfolio, helping to analyse and provide advice on contract variations and commercial/ financial issues that arise on them

- Managing the Directorate’s risk register. Working with colleagues across the directorate to maintain a consistent approach, and to hold risk managers of individual projects to account

- Contributing and drafting briefings for Ministers and responding to Parliamentary Questions

- Shadowing senior Corporate Finance Advisors and undertake assurance reviews as part of the Commercial Centre of Excellence to support key investment decision processes

About you

You are someone that has excellent engagement skills, being able to communicate messages effectively to others at all levels. You can easily interpret complex information and explain them to others clearly, checking their understanding by using questions and feedback.

You can manage multiple workstreams and priorities with ease, ensuring your work is to a high standard and meets agreed delivery dates.

You have a clear understanding of commercial and financial processes. You can understand and can interpret data to present your findings to others.

Additional Information

We are following current government guidelines and working remotely, if successful you will be provided with IT equipment to carry out your duties remotely. Once we are able to return to office, we will provide you with full notice.

Due to the nature of this role, there will be some occasional travel once normal travel resumes. This will include attending meetings with local authorities, team meetings and networking events. This could occur twice every quarter.
