Join our Green Investment Group as a highly motivated Technical Manager to help the Group support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. In this London-based role, but with the option to be based in another location with frequent travel to London. You will work in the principle investment deal team with responsibility for managing technical and development workstreams on European waste & bioenergy assets including and with a core focus on biogas investments.

As a pivotal member of the deal team, your role is to be one of our Green Investment Group’s renewables technical and development experts providing technical input on new waste & bioenergy projects and investment proposals; including coordinating the technical aspects of the due diligence process and taking the lead in arranging construction, feedstock and operation contracts for late stage development and operational projects.

You will be one of the technical and development leads within the deal team responsible for managing the technical and project development workstreams and ensuring that technical risks have been suitably considered and mitigated as part of the project investment case. In your role as a Technical Manager you will interface with wider internal teams, partners, suppliers and consultancies and will be expected to be an ambassador for the business during any external engagement. You’ll also be responsible for the technical sign-off for the various technical inputs for different Projects you support. You will also provide commercial advice on the deal structure and documentary controls.

Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing early stage opportunities including teasers, model assumptions and IM’s and assessing project viability as well as contract negotiations and running tender processes (EPC, O&M, feedstock, asset management and construction management). In addition to this, you will also be project managing the core project development workstreams, interfacing with the financial advisory teams to ensure appropriate project structuring for project financing.

This role will see you optimizing project design and model/financial outcomes through layout optimization, technology selection and other project parameters (e.g. feedstock types) and providing ongoing technical support to the management of the assets during construction (including managing third party providers for technical reports and due diligence). During the construction phase, you will be conducting site visits pre-construction and in-construction to ensure project feasibility and quality whilst liaising with management of construction and asset managers throughout the project execution phases.

For success in this role, you will have significant experience of 8 + years of working on waste & bioenergy projects (biogas essential and energy from waste beneficial) from development through to construction and into operations and sell-down as well as a strong understanding of the development process including development and management of specifications, feedstock suitability and analysis, tender management and permitting process. You will also possess prior experience in the appraisal / operational management of waste treatment technologies and have demonstrable understanding of investor technical due diligence requirements, a successful track record leading and managing complex projects, including working alongside JV partners in multiple countries and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes. Lastly, you’ll have experience with commercial and technical risk management, excellent networking and communication skills, and strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills.

You will have experience working in European markets such as the Nordics and/or European Mediterranean territory, and associated language skills are highly regarded.
