Join our European PPA business of the Green Investment Group as a Senior Vice President and help support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy.

As the SVP, you will oversee the structuring, negotiating and executing corporate and utility PPAs for GIG’s investments in Europe whilst leading a small team of experts to execute and manage revenue contracts for GIG’s direct and indirect investments in Europe, by providing support and services to GIG’s platforms/subsidiaries. This role will see you develop active relationships with corporate and utility buyers, as well as PPA advisors. As such, you will manage internal stakeholder engagement, including risk, finance, compliance and legal, and ensuring fulfillment of their requirements on each transaction. Through creating and aligning PPA best practices with GIG and Macquarie offices globally, you will be working closely with project finance banks and investors, as well as GIG’s debt and private capital markets teams, to ensure that GIG’s PPAs meet the highest standards of quality. You will also be responsible for monitoring and providing updates to the European business on PPA pricing and energy markets, trends and opportunities

To exceed in this role, you will have a detailed understanding of structured energy transactions and contract negotiations (ISDA/EFET/bespoke PPA) and a deep understanding of the links between PPAs, investment models and project finance documentation, direct agreements, bank and corporate guarantees and intercreditor agreements. You will have a minimum of eight years’ experience in originating, structuring and negotiating long-term contracts, preferably in multiple European jurisdictions and a proven track record of leading a team from the front (leading by example) and participating in the day-to-day execution and negotiation of PPA contracts. This role is ideal for you if you possess a mathematical mind with a natural ability to understand (and affinity for discussing) complex cash flows, electricity flows, payoff formulas and settlement mechanics. In addition, you will frequently need:

  • A strong cross-cultural understanding, with an ability to understand and be understood by people from many countries and backgrounds
  • A capability to manage complex projects and work as part of a transaction team
  • Confident personality with a humble approach, capable of presenting GIG in the best light to all relevant stakeholders
  • Experience from structuring/pricing European and Asian commodity options is preferred
  • Experience from physical energy markets (scheduling/dispatching) is an advantage
  • Fluent in English and at least one other European language is preferred

There is a preference for this role to be London-based, but with a degree of flexibility for candidates being based in other European locations. There is some travel expected in the future, particularly if you’re based outside of London. Please apply immediately if this sounds like the right direction for your career.
