We are looking for someone to join our team in HR, Estates and Health and Safety as a HR Assistant. Job description

This role provides the HR support function to Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) managers and employees. It works collaboratively across HR to support HR and the wider MCA's Strategic goals.

You will be required to work with a range of stakeholders including: Shared Services, MCA staff, Group HR and Occupational Health. This will ensure that processes and policy requirements are upheld, support provision of HR services as well as monitor relationships and services.

You’ll be asked to ensure a service level agreement is maintained and provide an administrative service for the wider HR function.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your HR knowledge across a number of areas and provides support to obtain a Level 3 qualification with Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Further to this, you will have the opportunity to assist with a range of HR projects that will make a real impact including upskilling colleagues.


Work in partnership with Talent & Development to upskill managers on people processes including delivery of training interventions such as Managers Toolkit sessions, MCA Induction, delivery of bespoke and targeted management training.

Support the HR Advisor (HR Services) with the liaison and management of the running of the HR Occupational Health service. Manage the HR Issues Log, collating MI, assisting with the publication of communications and updates to the business, dealing with queries and customer complaints.

Support the HR advisor (HR Services) with the implementation and embedding of any changes or updates to DfT HR Group Policy, to including issuing communications to the business, updating of relevant information in the MCA Staff Handbook and Microsite and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure that changes to policy are embedded into the business.

Provide administrative support for the wider HR function including secretariat for DfT HR Business Partner meetings, minute taking and various administrative tasks as required.
