Job description

These are exciting and high-profile policy roles; helping drive forward HMG’s direction on aviation security internationally. You will be joining the team as the UK harnesses its influence and partnerships and looks to get ahead of aviation security threats; a fantastic opportunity. You will join one of three small international teams as well as forming part of the Department’s security and resilience community.

We are looking for three individuals who are dynamic and resilient to an evolving aviation security landscape. The roles will involve liaison with international partners, colleagues across Whitehall, the intelligence and security community as well as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to respond to current and future aviation security threats.
 

Responsibilities

The Aviation Directorate, is responsible for both domestic and international aviation policy in many high-profile areas, including negotiating air transport agreements with other countries, the implementation of international safety, security and environmental standards, and developing policy new and emerging technologies.

Within the Aviation Directorate, the Aviation Security Strategy and Policy (ASSP) is a Division of c.40 staff responsible for the development of policies and strategic planning to combat the threat of terrorist attacks on civil aviation, both within the UK and overseas.

As a team that works on threat related issues, we expect our staff to work flexibly and adapt to rapidly changing requirements and priorities across the team, wider Division and Directorate. Many international aspects of the role are currently being conducted virtually, however some international travel will be required in these roles as business travel opens.

We are looking to fill three posts within the following teams;
Regional Engagement Team,
Global Strategy and Engagement Team,
Global Risk and Response Team (London based).

If successful, you will be placed in the relevant team depending on your skills/experience.

Things you need to know Security

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours and Strengths.

Interviews are likely to be held on 17th and 18th December 2020.

This interview could be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.
