Discovery operates on a worldwide basis to produce & acquire content from thousands of global partners, schedule hundreds of linear TV & online channels, and distribute content to hundreds of affiliates including cable TV, free-to-air broadcast, and online video providers such as Amazon and iTunes. 

Job Responsibilities

 Located in our Chiswick, West London offices the Network Engineer will be responsible for working with the operations and engineering teams around the strategic, tactical, and improvement of the global network platforms. The individual will be evaluating processes regularly to ensure expected outcomes are achieved in the most efficient way along with identifying service improvements and document those improvements. Help ensure standards and processes are followed.

 

Among others, you will be -

Supporting all DCI network infrastructure by responding to and resolving all trouble tickets within the stipulated SLA time
Understanding the root cause of all the network outages and take remediation steps to prevent the recurrence of the problem
Implementing network infrastructure on a project-based approach
Requirements

Previous experience in network administration
Exposure to at least one dynamic routing protocol (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS)
Good knowledge of the switching (layer 2, STP, VLAN, trunk, …)
Exposure to at least one key vendor equipment: Juniper, Cisco or Arista
Good understanding of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM concepts
Understanding of the mechanics of firewalling
Experience with a network management system (NMS)
