Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for a passionate and confident Aviation Engagement Support Officer to join their exciting Second-Generation Aviation Search and Rescue Programme, known as UKSAR2G.

UKSAR2G is the successor programme of the current UKSARH contract which is in its fifth year of operation. UKSARH replaced the UK’s legacy search and rescue helicopter arrangements which consisted of a mixture of military and Coastguard helicopters. All search and rescue helicopters now operate under the Coastguard and are operated on behalf of the MCA by Bristow Helicopters Ltd.

As our Aviation Engagement Support Officer, you will work as part of a dynamic team, having responsibility for assisting the Engagement Team to deliver the strategy for UKSAR2G. You will work alongside the Engagement Lead, interacting with the HMCG Operational Senior User for UKSAR2G and the MCA Press Office to deliver communications to our partner organisations, ensuring interested groups and individuals are kept up to date and informed quickly and efficiently.

The current UKSARH Programme is responsible for the rescue of thousands of lives every year and you could be part of the next decade of the Coastguard search and rescue.

As part of this role, some UK travel is expected with potential for overnight stays.
 

Responsibilities

The role responsibilities can include but are not limited to:

• Supporting the development and implementation of a robust engagement strategy which identifies the key diverse interested parties and how they will be managed.

• Working closely with the UKSAR2G Engagement Lead to identify and champion engagement opportunities with interested parties.

• Supporting any industry engagement events for the UKSAR2G programme, developing content, supporting the running of the events (currently virtually due to Covid-19) and the publishing of resources following the event

• Work with the press office and UKSAR2G Engagement Lead to draft initial responses to any media/press enquiries. Support any proactive media enquiries and, work with the Media Producer and UKSAR2G Engagement Lead.

• Develop and maintain matrices which demonstrate interested parties, interest, influence and impacts in relation to search and rescue and emergency air response capabilities. Maintain the matrix to ensure that it remains current and interest and influence scores reflect the current risks.

About you

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with a wide and diverse range of interested parties. You will be someone who naturally enjoys working collaboratively with different business areas and organisations and likes the challenge of influencing others to achieve business outcomes. You can build rapport quickly with both internal and external interested parties which enables you to build solid relationships.

We are looking for someone who has exceptional communication skills and can express themselves confidently and concisely with internal and external interested parties at all levels. You will represent the Agency in a professional and clear manner, ensuring timely delivery of key messages to all interested parties. First-class writing skills are paramount to this role, with the ability to turn around communications and responses to tight deadlines. You must also have excellent drafting skills to produce high quality documents.
