The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are looking for a driven and resilient individual to join us as Contracts and Compliance Manager.
This recently created role will see you providing invaluable input into developing and maintaining terms of reference for a wide range of stakeholders and liaise with many colleagues and surveyors to ensure that audits are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Your work will ultimately make a huge difference to peoples lives, contributing to seafarer training and overall safety at sea.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;
• Undertake the development of external contracts for delegated service providers of STC products (SQA, IYT, RYA, SEAFISH, AMERC, IAMI, MNTB) to ensure the compliance and standards are agreed.
• Develop an audit programme for delegated service providers of STC products in consultation with the Chief Examiner.
• Periodically organise audits and be part of the audit team for delegated service providers of STC products
• To build and maintain relationships & ensure contractual compliance with external service providers.

Please note, this role is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work.
There is a likelihood of regular work travel on official duty within the UK and visits overseas which may involve overnight stays away from home. A passport valid for international travel is therefore essential.
As someone who is a fantastic communicator, you will be confident and professional when building meaningful and lasting relationships with stakeholders and colleagues. The strength of these relationships will be pivotal when sometimes needing to address sensitive / difficult subjects.
You will be comfortable producing high quality, accurate written reports to sometimes tight deadlines, so will require the ability to remain focussed and accurate under pressure.
It is essential that you have an understanding of STCW 78 as amended,Maritime legislation and enforcement,course approvals and college audits.

Existing Civil Servants and applicants from accredited NDPBs are eligible to apply, but will only be considered on loan basis (Civil Servants) or secondment (accredited NDPBs). Prior agreement to be released on a loan basis must be obtained before commencing the application process.
