Job Details

The Smart Metering Implementation Programme (SMIP) is a major delivery programme spanning Government and industry, replacing traditional gas and electricity meters in homes and small businesses across Great Britain. Smart meters underpin the move to a cleaner energy system by enabling technologies like electric vehicles, smart appliances and micro-generation to be efficiently integrated with renewable energy sources. They are also modernising the energy system for millions of consumers by bringing an end to estimated bills and manual meter reads, enabling prepayment customers to top-up remotely, and providing households with near-real time information which they can use to save energy and cut their bills.

These posts offer an outstanding opportunity to work at the heart of the Smart Metering Implementation Programme. They sit within:

• The Private Office that is central to supporting the senior leadership of the Programme and provides business management and support across all programme workstreams, and
• The Stewardship Team that oversees the Programme delivery plan and monitors progress of the smart meter roll-out by engaging with industry and key partners.

These exciting and varied roles will provide the opportunity to both directly support the Senior Leadership as well as getting involved in the meetings, projects and business administration across the whole programme.

Diversity and Inclusion

In common with all of BEIS, the Smart Metering Implementation Programme is actively factoring Diversity and Inclusion into every single part of our working life. Whether this is the outward facing policy or operations that we deliver to our customers and partners, or the culture we build in the teams in which we work, all parts of our work together fall under the influence of our commitment to value our people and the people we serve, wherever they are and whatever they do.
