We have a new and exciting role within the team to enable growth, stability and provide a framework to deliver best in class technical solutions to our customers. We are seeking a forward-thinking Engineering Manager

With over 2500 colleagues from around the world, we combine our strategic insights, engineering know-how and operational excellence to use the most innovative technologies to create and distribute our award-winning content.

What you'll do
  • Be a hands-on Engineering Manager who will lead by example.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of detailed analysis, design, subsequent development, and test of new or existing solutions
  • Manage and nurture a highly skilled team of Broadcast Engineers in a fast-paced environment, with responsibility for managing the personal development and recruiting staff with the necessary technical skills.
  • Work with our clients in Sky Sports and Technical teams within CT&I to Identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities, then use them to develop appropriate solutions and through collaboration ensure requirements, strategy and approach are understood to deliver the best solution.
  • Lead your projects including documenting, tracking, managing risks and dependencies.
  • Work closely with the Outside Broadcast Events Team who will support the solutions on the road.
  • Respond and manage effective Incident resolution, including detailed root cause analysis, retrospectives, and proactive change to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Make key technical decisions to influence department roadmaps and provide steer from an operational standpoint.
  • Ensure Sky's cyber security requirements are always met and adhered to
What you'll bring
  • Proven track record of technical management, be it in a team management or project management role.
  • Great communication and management skills
  • 5+ years' experience in a Broadcast Engineering role with expertise in either Realtime Broadcast Graphics Solutions or Transmission/Transport of Video and Audio over IP, encode and decode.
  • Working knowledge of SD/HD/UHD/MPEG-4 AVC /H264, MPEG-5 HEVC Video Standards, Dolby E and Dolby Digital, Dolby ED-2 ac-4 Audio Standards. NDI/SRT and WebRTC. Cloud platforms and their use in a production environment. Networks TCP/IP/UDP/RTP and VLAN configuration. Encapsulation of Transport Streams into IP
  • Solid understanding of Realtime broadcast graphics solutions.
  • Relentless focus on our customer's experience and solution performance
  • Knowledge of tracking and reporting tools, experience with JIRA and Confluence is desirable.
  • Ability to work well in a team, self-driven and eager to learn
  • Creative thinking, analytical skills, with attention to detail
