Job description

This role provides you with an exciting opportunity within delivery management at the MCA, helping to shape and build an environment that makes a real difference for the UK public. We need someone who understands agile practices and can apply them to our projects.

You will be involved in the IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce and will lead the effective delivery of complex, high risk products and services.

You will be responsible for delivering projects and providing guidance to junior Delivery Managers.

This role will be based in the Southampton HQ. MCA supports flexible working and operates a hybrid working model between home and office for this role, giving you greater flexibility over where and when you work. Details of the arrangement will be discussed further with your line manager.

Responsibilities

It’s a truly rewarding time to join the team, with the existing and upcoming projects, work pattern and embedded culture within the Agency.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage delivery of projects including effective prioritisation of incoming requirements.

• The delivery of MCA's digital, data and technology projects and initiatives, including applications and infrastructure, with a focus on large and medium-size projects, according to the project allocation priorities set by the Head of IT Portfolio and the Head of Delivery Management.

• Set up and support the relationships with project sponsors and key stakeholders of the projects they lead, understanding their priorities and demands.

• Achieve agreed objectives within time, cost and quality constraints.

About You

We are looking for someone who is proactive and enjoys establishing trust with stakeholders.

You show resilience and tenacity when workloads change and can manage conflicting priorities with ease and while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will have experience in using agile and lean techniques to ensure the best outcome.

You are a confident decision maker and can communicate these decisions in a concise and clear manner ensuring your audience is taken into consideration.

Company

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
