Second2None School Support Ltd. offers governance and clerking support for Schools and Academies. 

We are now recruiting for School Governance Clerks/Governance Professionals to work term time only, and remotely to schedule meetings, and to attend meetings both remotely and in person.

Board meetings take place in maintained schools and academy Trusts where the Clerk will attend to take minutes, convene the meetings and provide advice to Boards of governors/trustees. *Please note following COVID lockdown/social distancing, some schools have continued to hold meetings remotely, in view of this candidates must be able to use Zoom and/or other online video conferencing facilities*

The post is flexible to suit the needs of the post holder and offers part time hours. The post holder will be able to take on as much or as little as they prefer. Meetings are usually held during the afternoon and early evening.

Previous minute taking experience is essential, ideally evidence of this should be provided. Knowledge/experience of School/Academy governance is highly preferable. Transferable skills welcomed from other sectors.

Duties include advising the governors/trustees of procedural and legal duties, preparation and circulation of agendas/minutes and other papers, taking and typing up minutes of the governing body meetings and other administrative duties as required.

Must have own transport, means of writing minutes (laptop/shorthand etc) and internet access. An educational and/or legal background would be beneficial and candidates will have capacity to learn quickly.

Must be computer literate with excellent communication skills. The post holder will be highly organised and motivated to keep to deadlines and be prepared to offer procedural advice to governors/trustees when needed. Applicants should have an understanding of school governance/education. The successful candidate will be willing and committed to undertake ongoing training. The post holder will have excellent inter-personal skills and be reliable. The role is sub-contracted.
