What kinds of flexible jobs are out there for older workers? We take a look.
We specialise in products that not only look good, but make the home smell great! Cello first launched in 2015, with the aim of bringing quality home fragrances and an exciting bespoke collection onto the market.
Through our retail stores, we sell beautiful ultrasonic diffusers, electric melt burners, scented candles, wax melts, fragrance oils, reed diffusers and so much more. Our products are ever changing, taking influence from current trends to offer our customers the very best!
Many of our products are also stocked in other stores, both in independent and large retailers as well as online. You can find us in John Lewis and on the Wayfair and Amazon website, to name a few.
We want people across the country to experience the charm of Cello and our unique fragrances that are perfect for all occasions.
We have two models available for you to choose from: the first being a bespoke retail store, ideal for high footfall areas such as high street locations. The second choice is a more affordable kiosk model that works great in shopping centres. This is your chance to own your very own fragrance retail shop with Cello in your chosen territory! Your Cello store/kiosk will be fully stocked with our core product range of our own home fragrance products.
We create products and a store environment that encourages repeat purchase; it is crucial that your store/kiosk upholds this tone too. You will be provided with all of the necessary tools to help you launch your Cello business with confidence. This will include support with your shop fit-out, stock, and other materials and all the equipment you will need.
Our franchise fee is dependent on the model you choose to invest in. The fee for our flagship retail store is £19,500 + VAT, whereas the fee for a kiosk model is only £6,950 + VAT. The total package fee will vary depending on the location, size and fitout requirements of your retail store/kiosk. The choice of location for the kiosk model is limited however it would need considerably less capital to start with.
Depending on the capital you already have access to, Government-led funding may be available towards the cost of your franchise fee helping you to get started.
We are searching for ambitious franchise partners to join us on our expansion journey. If you are passionate about people, can demonstrate commercial acumen and have a strong eye for detail, you sound like an ideal candidate. You do not need previous experience in retail, although it would be beneficial. We believe in the ethos that the ‘customer is always right’, so you will need to be committed to providing an excellent customer experience. This is a fun and exciting opportunity to own your own successful home fragrance retail store.

Since launching workingmums.co.uk 18 years ago, followed by workingdads.co.uk and workingwise.co.uk, WM People has built a trusted platform for women, parents, and over 50s.
Over the years, we have published jobs from thousands of public and private sector employers across multiple industries, registered almost 800,000 candidates, and generated almost 2.5 million job applications. Beyond job opportunities, we have published more than 13,000 articles that offer guidance, advice, and support through our editorial content and online events, addressing the unique challenges faced by these critical talent populations.
For employers of all sizes and industries, we have provided access to an incredible pool of talent—experienced women, parents, and those over 50—while offering a platform to authentically showcase their employer brand. Through our research we have intentionally shone a spotlight on the barriers these groups encounter both in finding employment and navigating workplace environments. From the difficulties of returning to work after a career break, discrimination in the hiring process, to the gender pension gap, our work has helped bring these issues to the forefront, driven meaningful conversations and suggested practical approaches to improvement for everyone.
We have championed best practice in areas including flexible working, supporting returners, career progression for women, and attracting, recruiting, and retaining workers over 50. This effort has been reinforced by 14 years of annual Top Employer Awards, and accompanying, detailed Best Practice Reports, as well as our employer-focused roundtables and National Older Workers Week.
Throughout our journey, we have had to innovate and adjust our business models and strategies to keep pace with a constantly evolving marketplace. As a small business, we have grown and adapted, leveraging our websites, and expanding our reach through social media, all while navigating significant economic changes, including two recessions and the pandemic.
However, since COVID-19, the landscape is shifting more rapidly than ever before and as a result of this and other changing economic circumstances we have had to take the incredibly difficult decision to close the business. We know there is still such a need for what we do and we hope others will build on what we have achieved. We also hope in the future to be able to explore other avenues to continue to bring diversity in employment to the forefront of recruitment and HR.
We are immensely proud of what we have achieved over the last 18 years as trailblazers and pioneers, and we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of all our stakeholders.
Together, we have made a lasting impact on thousands of lives, and have shaped innovative policies and practices in diversity, equity, inclusion, and flexible working across the UK.
