Careers Week 2024 takes place next week and offers a host of advice and opportunities for jobseekers wanting flexible roles.
Next week is Careers Week on our sister site workingmums.co.uk and there is lots of advice that is useful for jobseekers of all ages as well as opportunities to virtually meet employers looking to hire.
The week kicks off on Monday with a live webinar with CV expert Emma Alkirwi talking about the challenges most jobseekers struggle with these days, how to address careers gaps, how to present your CV to make it stand out and the importance of tailoring your CV for particular jobs rather than taking a scattergun approach.
Experts from Purple CV will also go through all the things you need to do on the morning of your next job interview so that you can arrive fully prepared and ready to impress.
In addition, there is a live session with British Transport Police who became the first UK police force to launch a part-time jobs campaign. They will talk about what it takes to be a police officer or a police community support officer, the flexible conditions they offer and other benefits.
On Tuesday we have two live sessions with flexible employers BAE Systems and AWE. There are also webinars with SLR Consulting, TransPennine Express and Starling Bank.
On Wednesday there’s a focus on self-employment, supported by the Stagecoach Performing Arts franchise. On Thursday Alastair Brown from BrightHR will be talking about the role of AI in the workplace and charity codebar will be in conversation about its free regular programming workshops for minority groups in tech. And on Friday there are sessions on getting into early years education with Realise and an interview with Joy Foster, founder of Tech Pixies, about career change and getting into social media marketing.
All in all, the aim is to give candidates some ideas about the range of jobs in different sectors as well as practical advice on how to get them.
